As a mom of a toddler, I know how fulfilling—and totally exhausting—motherhood can be. I also know how hard it can be to care for ourselves while caring for our families.
But research shows just how important our wellbeing is. Not just for our kids’ sakes. But also for our own. Yet many of us put our wellbeing and needs last after becoming moms. Has this happened to you as well, mama?
Have you ever:
- Felt like a bad mom for needing a break? Or having tough days?
- Felt guilty for prioritizing your needs?
- Felt guilty for having interests, goals and dreams beyond motherhood?
- Needed support but felt embarrassed asking for it?
- Missed feeling deeply connected to your partner or having a mom tribe?
I sure have.Â
After becoming a mom, I also noticed a need for—and a lack of—accessible, well-researched information on how to improve our wellbeing and embrace our mom identity while staying connected to our needs.
Sure, there are plenty of wellbeing magazines and parenting magazines out there. But very few focus only on the wellbeing of moms with young kids.
So I created Mother’s Day Magazine in 2018 to help moms feel happier, healthier, and more fulfilled and supported. (I wrote about wellbeing for a Fortune 500 healthcare company for over 10 years, so helping moms also seemed like a great next step.)
Since it’s so hard to find trustworthy content online, we have a team of therapists who either write or review any clinical content. Our contributors share their top wellbeing tips to help you:
- Build resilience and stronger support networks
- Prevent burnout by finding time for self-care
- Find the right work-family balance and flexible work aligned with your passions and skills
- Stay well by nourishing your body and mind
- Feel more fulfilled by finding time to pursue your interests, goals and dreams beyond motherhood
We also have some great first-person stories from other moms to inspire and comfort you.
We’re here to help you prioritize your wellbeing, mama—without the guilt and stigma.
Because you matter. Every day.
Warmly,
