Every mom has a story she carries—a story that defines her but often goes untold.

At Mother’s Day Magazine, we invite you to share that story. Maybe it’s a secret you’ve held onto, like how you didn’t immediately bond with your baby after birth. Or perhaps it’s a profound experience, like a traumatic birth or learning to navigate motherhood after the loss of your own mother.

This is your space to share the whole truth, no matter how complex it may be. And because you matter here, we also want to hear how you’re rediscovering yourself outside of motherhood—finding joy in the things that make you you again.

We’re looking for first-person essays—deeply moving, honest reflections of:

  • Untold motherhood stories: Secrets, challenges, or unexpected experiences.
  • Moments of joy and reinvention: Creative projects, acts of self-care, or ways you’re reconnecting with who you are outside of motherhood.

Your voice matters. Your story matters. And your journey can inspire and connect with moms everywhere.

Ready to share your story?

  1. Read our Contributor Guidelines and familiarize yourself with what we offer writers (below).
  2. Send your 750-1,000-word stories to hello@mothersdaymagazine.com. You can also pitch us a story idea. (Please include two writing samples with your pitch.)
